SKY Journal of Linguistics

SKY JoL 2020
The latest issue of SKY JoL

An important update on our publishing procedure

SKY Journal of Linguistics is currently undergoing several major changes. Beginning with Volume 33 (2020), the journal will become an exclusively electronic publication; a printed edition will no longer be produced. To coincide with this change, the journal will move to the journal.fi (Finnish Scholarly Journals Online) publishing platform, provided by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies.

Along with these changes to our publishing format, we will also implement a few other important changes. First, our languages of publication will from now on also include Finnish and Swedish. Second, beginning with Volume 34 (2021), the name of the journal will be changed to Finnish Journal of Linguistics. Third, the deadline for submitting manuscript will from now on be 31 January.

We will post further updates on these changes later this autumn as we transfer the journal to the new publishing service. If you have any questions about the changes, please contact the editors by email (sky-journal (at) helsinki.fi).

During 2018 and 2019, The Linguistic Association of Finland has digitalized its previous journals for open access. This concerns publications between 1988–2003 (Vol. 1–16). Via the links below you have access to the papers whose authors have explicitely allowed their online publication. These digitalized papers are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). If you are the author but your paper is not available online, and you would like to have it available on this site, please, fill the permission form and send it to sky-journal [at] helsinki.fi
The digitization work has been financially supported by Suomen tiedekustantajien liitto (the Finnish Association for Scholarly Publishing) and by Kopiosto.

SKY Journal of Linguistics is a refereed general linguistic journal published on an annual basis. It contains previously unpublished, original articles, short essays or so-called "squibs" and book reviews. SKY Journal of Linguistics welcomes papers on all aspects of linguistic research. Every article is refereed by at least two anonymous referees, after which the editors make the final decision of publication. The languages of publication are English, French, German, Finnish, and Swedish. Manuscripts may be submitted throughout the year, but the deadline for each year’s issue is 31 January.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. The journal's publishing procedure can be seen here. In all its publishing acts SKY JoL engages and pursues to advance the policy of Finnish Advisory Board on Research Integrity (TENK) and the policy of Finnish Association for Scholarly Publishing (Suomen tiedekustantajien liitto) concerning peer review instructions. SKY JoL is also obliged to store relevant documents during the publishing process (e.g. manuscript versions, review statements, publication decisions and agreements) to its own database.

SKY Journal of Linguistics has implemented the label for peer-reviewed scholarly publications of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies and is committed to follow the guidelines for the mark. More information available here.

The instructions for authors and the style sheet are available from the editors and online.
